Civilians
The 71st PVI has an active and enthusiastic group of civilian reenactors. These women, children and a few men enjoy activities that authentically re-create aspects of our ancestors’ lives; cooking period foods, sewing “correct” garments, and writing letters to soldiers become part of our citizens’ daily lives in camp.
Civilians meet regularity to plan activities, exchange ideas and share information. Our Civilian Coordinator will assist newcomers in gathering specific items for an accurate, authentic impression. We have many items that may be borrowed to get a new citizen started. We will provide a wealth of information as a basis for a period correct portrayal of a civilian of the 1860’s.
Our goal is to avoid a “costumed” look; creating instead a living representation of a citizen of the time.
